Meet Dr. Anne,
Your Travel Teacher & Chief Experience Officer

From Flatbush (Brooklyn) to the World! One of the most common questions I get presented with is "how did you get to 65 countries?!"

The short answer is a combination of dreaming it, naming the intention, and God! While I can't share the full story in this brief bio, my hope is that you join the Voluptuary community to pick up on the nuances and stories that have turned me into your travel teacher!

-----------

The Voluptuary is a story of a girl who was born in Haiti, and raised in Flatbush, Brooklyn by a single mom. There was a lot of reading in her youth, which was a decent foray into some parts of other cultures and worlds unseen. A lover of history, well before going on her first trip on a plane at 16 years old, for a family cruise, this little girl would dream of seeing the pages in her textbooks and the exotic locations on those TV shows (like America's Next Top Model) in real life.

After cruising to the Caribbean with family for two summers—and before that vacationing with family in Canada and Dalton, OH during the summer—this little girl went to college and decided to study abroad. Earning her very first passport stamp all the way down under in Sydney, Australia in 2005—the travel bug officially implanted itself on this little girl's heart. Taking advantage of a student travel deal, this little girl visited the Motherland, backpacking around South Africa for 10 days and then experiencing a short layover trip to Hong Kong.

From then on, this little girl made travel an increasing part of her life as she went from backpacker with Brooklyn charm & glam, to official travel agent; to a philanthropist planning travel for Brooklyn youth; to travel consultant for individuals and families—to a scholar of travel.

The little girl grew up, and created a life where travel was second only to education in her world. She became a woman who earned her PhD in Education by studying global competence, experiential learning, and cosmopolitanism through the creation of a short-term international trip for high school seniors (that continued even after her departure as a teacher at the school she worked at). Planning travel for others as a consultant—the need for education was always at the root of what people really wanted to gain from her global experiences. "How do you do it?" They often wondered and asked. So now she teaches others that the luxury of travel does NOT have to break the bank, is accessible to those willing to learn, and provides the highest enjoyment of the 5 senses that could be experienced.

------

That little girl is me, and sometimes even I can't believe that I've lived this story and get to keep adding chapters to it! I truly hope you find inspiration and join the Voluptuary journey because all of it possible and the world awaits!

xoxo
Dr. Anne

Our Story :
From a College Dreamer to The Voluptuary Travel

What started as a recent college graduate’s whirlwind love affair with the world has grown into The Voluptuary Travel—a distinguished travel consulting brand fueled by passion, precision, and a deep thirst for discovery. Founded by Dr. Anne Desrosiers, a seasoned globetrotter who’s journeyed through 65 countries across six continents, The Voluptuary Travel is all about crafting travel experiences that don’t just check boxes, but spark joy and authenticity at every turn.

Dr. Anne’s professional travel adventure kicked off during her full-time gig as a travel agent with STA Travel from 2011 to 2013. It was there she mastered the nitty-gritty: building bespoke itineraries that would make even the most seasoned explorers jealous, navigating the labyrinth of global flight systems (hello, GDS!), digging deep to find the best tour providers on every continent, and becoming a trusted pro in travel insurance. This rock-solid foundation was the launchpad for The Voluptuary Travel’s rise.

Fast forward to 2015, when The Voluptuary Travel crafted its very first custom itinerary—a surprise birthday trip for a former classmate. Since then, the brand has blossomed into a powerhouse, designing expertly curated journeys to incredible places like the Philippines, Costa Rica, Italy, and Tanzania.

But there’s more to The Voluptuary Travel than just itineraries. Dr. Anne also shares her worldly wisdom and insider tips through an engaging blog, creates compelling travel content, and works as a trusted User-Generated Content (UGC) creator for brands that want authentic storytelling to shine through. Whether it’s through words, photos, or videos, she brings destinations to life and connects travelers with the heart of each place.

Today, as The Voluptuary’s Chief Experience Officer, Dr. Anne keeps the adventure alive and thriving. From consulting for schools dreaming up affordable educational travel, to helping nonprofits organize inspiring youth trips across the U.S., to guiding creatives navigating Miami’s famed Art Basel, her expertise knows no bounds. Beyond planning, she lights up audiences as a public speaker, sharing travel tales through podcasts, live events, immersive workshops, and storytelling sessions that celebrate travel’s power to transform.

Certified as a Tourism Ambassador for Dutchess County, Tour Director, and as of 2025, a New York City Licensed Tour Guide, Dr. Anne blends her educator’s heart with a traveler’s soul. Excitingly, she’s gearing up to launch The Voluptuary Travel Academy—a unique platform designed to teach others how to craft journeys the Voluptuary way—and soon, she’ll be hosting personalized family travel experiences built to create lifelong memories.

At The Voluptuary Travel, every itinerary, blog post, and piece of content is more than just information—it’s a carefully crafted story, told with heart, expertise, and a profound understanding of the world and the dreams that bring travelers there.
